The airline industry hasn’t been in the best spot as of late, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the numbers on their credit card applications being lower than normal. What’s interesting to me is that instead of saving the money, they would rather entice people to sign up for their credit cards, especially with pretty high sign up bonuses. The Air France/KLM card is no exception here.
Bank of America is a new sign up bonus on their AirFrance/KLM card with a 50,000 point + $150 statement credit sign up bonus after spending $2,000 on the card within the first 3 months. The annual fee on the card is not waived within the first year.
Before this, the previous best offer on the card was 25,000 points + the $150 statement credit. By comparison, this is offering twice as many points, plus the same $150 statement credit. The statement credit alone almost pays for 2 years of annual fee. The points, if valued at 1.2 CPP (TPG), would be worth about $600. That seems like a pretty good sign up bonus for a card with only a $89 annual fee.
Overall, if you were already interested in this card, there has not been a better time to pick it up!
