When people think about the ultimate credit cards, thoughts of the American Express Black, or Centurion card, is usually the first thought that comes to mind. Only the super rich are eligible for one, let alone pay the high annual fee for one. There is another American Express card that has quite a cult following to it, but not because it happens to be a particularly expensive card to hold on to, but rather because of the way it looks. The Zinc card is a one of a kind “white” American Express that you can’t get really get anymore. That also adds to the allure of the card. For those that have the Zync card though, I may have some bad news for you.
The Changes
American Express has sent out letters to Zync card holders that their accounts will be closed on March 20, 2020. Usually that would mean American Express would find you a card to force product change to, however, from the looks of it, the accounts will just be straight closed.
Final Thoughts
The Zync card is really the one and only way you can get a charge card from American Express without having to pay an annual fee. With the closure of the Zync card, there probably is no hope that we would get another no annual fee charge card replacement.
It’s still strange to me that American Express is not offering a product change but instead closing the card. I think the only reason they are doing so is because the only cards you could product change to have an annual fee. If you wanted to product change yourself to another charge card, you’ll have until March 20th to do so. You can product change it to the Green, Gold, or Platinum cards.
Do you have a Zync card from American Express? How do you feel about them closing the account? Is there another product that you would prefer them product change to? Let us know in the comment section below.
