As with anything American Express, one of the most important things to keep in mind long term is the lifetime language present on all of its cards. All this means is that you can only earn the sign up bonus one time. You can still be approved for the card a second time, but you will not receive the bonus again. That’s why when offers come along without lifetime language, it gets our attention!
The offer can be found by clicking here. If you spend a total of $2,000 within the first 3 months, you can earn a total of 125,000 Hilton points.
Typically speaking, the offer is not available to those that have already gotten the Hilton Honors Ascend card. However with this offer, we are not seeing language that indicates that restriction. If you have gotten the sign up bonus before on that card, this is your chance to apply for this card and receive the bonus again.
Recap of the Hilton Honors Ascend
As a recap, the Hilton Honors Ascend comes with a $95 annual fee. For that annual fee, you are getting:
- 12x at Hilton
- 6x on U.S. supermarkets, U.S. restaurants, and U.S. gas stations
- 3x on every other purchases
In addition to the point earning, you receive automatic Gold status at Hilton hotels with the potential to earn Diamond status. If you spend $40,000 on the card within a year, you will be granted Diamond Status (Hilton’s top status).
Speaking of spending requirements, if you spend a total of $15,000 within a year, you will also receive a Weekend Night at just about any Hilton Hotel. Finally, you will also get 10 Priority Pass benefits every year.
When it comes to American Express cards, I will always advocate getting the absolute best sign up bonus that you can when you apply. This is due to American Express’ once in a lifetime language on its sign up bonuses. Additionally, something to consider is that American Express also has been pretty active in monitoring any sort of abuse when it comes to their cards.
If you have never received the sign up bonus on this card before, then there is a 150,000 point sign up bonus that you may want to consider over this. If you have already received the sign up bonus for this card, then this offer may be worth considering. However as mentioned earlier, American Express actively monitors any sort of abuse, so tread carefully with an offer like this with no lifetime language. Alternatively, if you have the no annual fee version of the Hilton Honors card, see if you have any sort of upgrade offer!
What do you think about these no lifetime language offers? Is something like this sketchy knowing American Express’ RAT team, or perfectly safe?
