Not too long after Chase introduced its first transfer bonus, we are seeing American Express offer a point transfer bonus. The difference is that this offer is targeted, and not available to the public.
The Offer
From now until July 1st, if you transfer Membership Reward points to Virgin Atlantic, you can receive a 30% bonus. This would mean if you were to transfer 10,000 Membership Reward points, you would receive 13,000 points. In other words, instead of 1:1, it will now become a 1:1.3 transfer ratio.
Final Thoughts
Both Citi and American Express offer a ton of transfer bonuses to its partners. With Virgin Atlantic and American Express specifically, they offer these sort of bonuses pretty frequently. What’s interesting to me is that this is a targeted offer, and not something that is available to everyone. You would think that with more competition in the point transfer game (with Chase offering their first transfer bonus), that American Express would want to be more vocally competitive.
Either way, the link for the offer is available here, though it’s possible you wont see the offer if you weren’t targeted in the first place.
