Amex Amazon Business Card Increased Sign Up Bonus

Just about six months ago, American Express teamed up with Amazon in order to issue their business credit cards. There are two different cards, one that requires holding a Amazon Prime membership, and the other one does not have that requirement. The one that requires Amazon Prime has more benefits and higher reward category multipliers.

The News

Because there are two different versions of the business card, I will split them up into two different sections.

Amazon Prime version

As the name states, the Amazon Prime card requires the card holder be an Amazon Prime member. While there is no additional fee on top of that, there is a fee for Amazon Prime membership. The card earns 5% back or 90 days of free interest on purchases at Amazon and its subsidiaries (Whole Foods) and 2% back at restaurants (US only), gas stations (US only) and wireless telephone services.

The typical sign up bonus on the card is $125 Amazon gift card. Now for a limited time, the sign up bonus has been increased to a $150 Amazon gift card.

Non Amazon Prime Version

This version of the Amazon Business card does not require that the cardholder be a member of Amazon Prime. Subsequently, the earning rates will be a little bit less. Holders of this card, will only earns 3% back or 90 days of free interest on purchases at Amazon and its subsidiaries (Whole Foods) and 2% back at restaurants (US only), gas stations (US only) and wireless telephone services.

As far as the sign up bonus, typically the card comes with a $100 Amazon gift card. For a limited time, if you sign up for this card, you will receive a $120 gift card instead.

Final Thoughts

In the 6 months that the cards have been available for sign up, it isn’t the first time that the sign up bonus has been increased. However, if you missed the opportunity to apply earlier, than this very well is a great opportunity to do so. The sign up bonus are increasing by 25 to 20 dollars. That may not sound like a lot, but why would you not want the best offer possible? Especially when it comes to American Express, and their infamous once in a lifetime rule.

If you have a business that is either based around selling on Amazon, or uses Amazon frequently, either one of these cards may be a good option.
