Whenever a big hotel chain such as Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt makes a move we tend to notice. But what about when the smaller chains do things? Choice Privileges may not be the most familiar portfolio to some, but it includes hotel chains such as Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites. Barclays happens to issue the Choice Privileges card, and they have an increased sign up bonus right now.
You can see the offer by clicking here. The Barclays Choice Privileges card has an increased sign up bonus of 50,000 points after spending $1,000 within the first 3 months.
Credit Card Summary
As far as the card itself is concerned, it does not have an annual fee. The reward categories are broken down as follows:
- 5x: Choice Privileges purchases including purchasing points or gift cards
- 2x: Everywhere Else
Holding the card will grant you Elite Gold Status which includes bonus points when staying at a hotel as a welcome gift and 10% bonus points for eligible stays. Additionally, every time the card holder spends more than $10,000 within a calendar year, 8,000 anniversary points will be granted.
While this is an increased sign up bonus, it is not the all time high of 64,000 points. As far as the hotels in the portfolio, the free nights range from 6,000 points all the way to 35,000 points, which can give you multiple stays at the low end and one night at the high end.
Keep in mind that the issuer of this card is Barclays. They certainly don’t make it easy to get credit cards, certainly not for people that read creditalacarte. Still, even if you can get approved for the card, unless you spend a ton of time in Choice hotels it may not be the best card to go with.
