With government imposed lockdowns, many people are in a situation where they no longer are able to spend money like they used to just a few months prior. This has lead to many credit card issuers including: American Express, Chase, and even Bank of America implementing different extensions to the sign up bonuses on their credit cards. It now looks like Capital One is joining in on the fun!
Capital One is now extending the sign up bonus offers for some cardholders. At this point in time, the extension is not don’t automatically. Instead, this is something you’ll need to call in for, as they want to manually review each account both for extending the offer, and making sure you get your points.
For now, this looks to be only for people that opened cards in between 1/1/20 and 3/30/20. Those dates may be extended at a later date, but no guarantee. Some people have had their spending extended all the way until December 31, 2020 which is a huge extension!
While I do very much appreciate the gesture that credit card companies are taking by extending their sign up bonus offers, there is one aspect that I think should be a standard with this sort of thing. Unfortunately, Capital One is not doing automatic extensions. I just think that’s pretty annoying, and really, adds a ton of work for its customer service, especially at a time like this when people are calling in for more serious issues.
That being said though, there are some people there are claiming to have their offers extended all the way until December 31st, which if true, would be incredible! Especially if the offer in question is the Spark cards with the $2,000/200,000 point offers!
Does this extension help you in any way? Which card/offer are you working on? How long did Capital One extend it for? Let us know down in the comment section below!
