One of my least favorite trends in the credit card game recently has been limited time partnerships. Partnerships to the point where we know that will only last a year or two. Do I really consider this a benefit to the credit card? Is the credit card worth keeping without this partnership? I always have to do different analyses to check how much value I’m getting.
When it comes to Capital One and the Savor card, cardholders were getting a benefit to Vivid Seats. Anytime you used your Savor card, you’d get 8% back on those purchases! If you don’t know, think of Vivid Seats as a competitor to Stubhub.
The partnership was due to end in May of 2020, and luckily, it will be extended out all the way until January of 2020.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the original intention of the promotion was to let it die out after May of 2020. However, with many shows being canceled, its not like we could go, even if we wanted to. hopefully by the time 2022 comes around, we’ll have gotten to the point where we can go to shows and use Vivid Seats!
What do you think about benefits like these? Do you consider them part of the valuation to your credit cards every year? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
