We recently wrote about how Chase
renamed revamped the Chase Freedom by introducing the Freedom Flex card. Not only does it offer the same 5% rotating categories that the original Freedom offered, but it also introduces new categories that are pretty high in earning potential. There has been an update to the card.
The Freedom Flex has officially launched to new applicants! As a recap, the card is launching as follows:
- $200 sign up bonus after spending $500 within the first 3 months
- 5% back when spending up to $12,000 at groceries within the first year
- $0 annual fee
- 5%: rotating categories, travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards, Lyft through March 2022
- 3% dining and drugstores
- 1% back everywhere else
- Mastercard benefits such as cell phone protection.
For a general no annual fee card, this is actually a pretty good deal. If you currently have the Freedom card and are interested in the Freedom Flex, you have the option of either keeping your original Freedom and applying directly for the Flex (if you received the bonus more than 24 months ago), or directly product changing to the Flex.
If you didn’t already have a Freedom card, you’re now able to apply for the card. With the introduction of these changes, I’m curious to see how the Sapphire cards will potentially be updated.
