Citi Premier 70,000 Point Targeted Sign Up Bonus

My favorite types of offers are quickly becoming those targeted offers. They are like a secret that the public only wishes they knew about. What makes it difficult is that they always come at a time when the public offer is doing an increased sign up bonus too. It’s almost like everybody wins, but some win even more than others.

The Offer

The premier card has gone form a sign up bonus of 50,000 points all the way up to 60,000 points. But that is just the public offering. What would happen if you were a Citigold member, and you were targeted for an even better offer? That offer would look something like this:

Earn 70,000 points after spending $4,000 within the first 3 months. The annual fee is not waived within the first year.

In order to be eligible for this offer, you may need to be a Citigold member, and it’s only available via mail, so be sure to check those mailboxes!

Card Details

As a quick recap, the Citi Premier comes with a $95 annual fee. With that annual fee, cardholders earn 3x on Travel, 2x on Dining and Entertainment, and 1x Everywhere else. The ThankYou points earned on the card are worth about 1.8 cents per point, and can be transferred out to any one of Citi’s transfer partners or for a 1.25x bonus directly on Citi’s travel portal.

Final Thoughts

Of course, before you apply for this card, keep in mind the rules for applying for a Citi credit card. If you have open/closed a ThankYou point earning card within the last 24 months, then you may not be eligible for this bonus.

However, getting an extra 10,000 ThankYou points without even trying isn’t a bad thing to happen at all. If you value the ThankYou points at 1.8 cents per point, that extra 10,000 points would be worth $180. If you were planning on getting this card anyway, this is a great offer to get. Even if you don’t get the offer, there’s an increased public offering of 60,000 points, just keep in mind that the annual fee is not waived within the first year.
