Citi Refunding Annual Fee on Some Citi Premier Cards

With coronavirus causing a complete shutdown on travel around the world, it’s hard to justify travel related credit cards, especially those with annual fees. Just recently we wrote about Chase refunding $100 on its Sapphire Reserve card, and it looks like they aren’t the only one that is making such a measure.

The News

For those of you with the CIti Premier cards, you may be in for some good news. Citi seems to be refunding the $95 annual fee for some of its members. There are no official criteria as to who is getting these refunds, but my guess would be those that are about to pay an annual fee. Additionally, if you look at your credit card statement, the credit is showing up as “refund Membership Fee”. The cards that are showing this annual fee are still currently open.

Final Thoughts

While the Citi Premier’s annual fee is much lower than Chase and it’s Sapphire Reserve, it’s nice to see that they aren’t the only thinking of refunding the annual fee. This move will probably hurt Citi’s bottom line, but it is the right move if they want to avoid people either canceling or downgrading to an annual fee free credit card.

Have you experienced any sort of credit card refund from either the Citi Premier in that case? Let us know down in the comment section below!
