Citi Rewards+ Increased Sign Up Bonus (Targeted)

Check the mailboxes for any Citi related mailers! They are out here advertising an increased sign up bonus on a card that normally does not even have a sign up bonus to begin with.

The Offer

Normally, the Rewards+ does not have a sign up bonus. However, in this targeted offer, you can earn 25,000 ThankYou points after $2,000 in the first 3 months.

The Citi Rewards+ Summary

The Rewards+ does not come with an annual fee. The reward categories are broken down as follows:

  • 2x: Grocery and gas (up to $6,000 per year)
  • 1x: Every other purchase/any purchase after the $6,000 cap

The unique part about this card is that there is another way you can earn points. This card features a round up feature which rounds up the points earned to the nearest 10 points, and every transaction will earn at least 10 points. There is also a 10% rebate on all redeemed points each year, up to 100,000 ThankYou points.

Although it earns ThankYou points, it oddly enough does not accept most ThankYou point transfers. Finally, it also has a foreign transaction fee of the typical 3%.

Final Thoughts

If you are targeted for this offer, double check to see if there is a 24 month language or 48 month language. If it has 24 month language, then accepting this offer would lock you out of earning a sign up bonus on another ThankYou point earning credit card. Not only that, but it would be better to earn the sign up bonus from another Citi card that has a higher sign up bonus. If it has 48 month language, then you can proceed to apply for the card without worry.

When it first launched, it sported a 15,000 point bonus, and this is the highest offer we’ve seen thus far. When it comes down to it, this card normally doesn’t have a sign up bonus, so if it is something that interest you, this wouldn’t be a bad time to apply. Just make sure to double check the offer, and evaluate your future Citi plans before you apply.
