Have you ever been interested in getting one of the Luxury cards from Barclays, but were on the fence about the lack of a sign up bonus? There’s an interesting way that you can actually get a sign up bonus, but it isn’t directly through Barclays
The Offer
If you go on Luxury card website and try to apply, there still would not be a sign up bonus offered. Instead, you’ll have to look through an app called “drop”. Drop is offering 350,000 points, which ends up being worth $350, when you sign up for any of the Luxury cards.
The Cards
There are three different levels of Luxury cards that are currently offered, and they are broken down below:
Titanium
- $195 Annual Fee
- 2% on Airfare, 1% everywhere else
Black
- $495 Annual Fee
- 2% Airfare, 1.5% everywhere else
- $100 Airline Credit
- Global Entry/TSA Precheck
- Priority Pass
Gold
- $995 Annual Fee
- 2% On Airfare and everywhere else,
- $100 airline credit
- Global Entry/TSA Precheck
- Priority Pass
- Luxury Gifts
Final Thoughts
The really interesting thing about this offer is that sign up bonuses are usually paid by the issuer of the credit card, in this case, Barclays. I’m curious as to why drop even offers this, or, moving forward, if they were offer any sort of incentives for any other credit cards as well. I think this case may be different though, as the Luxury cards do not have a sign up bonus to begin with.
On the other hand, I do have to say, that you really need to look to see if these cards make sense for you. I don’t really see the value in any of these cards. In theory though, you could get this offer with the Titanium card, and have it pay for itself for the first year. This would not work for the Black or Gold card.
