Just when you thought credit card companies did not want to take any risks, and would be reducing sign up bonuses, American Express and Hilton are here to prove you wrong. How does an all time high bonus sound right about now?
The Offer
The Surpass card is offering a sign up bonus of 175,000 Hilton points when you spend a total of $4,000 within the first 3 months.
Card Summary
The Surpass card is in the middle of the Hilton portfolio with a $95 annual fee. There is no foreign transaction fee..
The card earns at the following rate:
- 12x: Hilton
- 6x: US supermarkets, restaurants, and gas stations
- 3x: Everywhere else
In addition to the reward categories, the Hilton card also comes with a few extras. Hilton Honors Gold is automatically given out. Additionally you will be given 10 free priority pass lounge visits every single year. If you are able to spend 15,000 within a calendar year, you will be given a free weekend night reward at just about any Hilton hotel.
Final Thoughts
Ok so, lets just get the obvious out of the way here. This is a humongous offer! If we value the Hilton Honors points at 0.6 cents per point, that would put us at a value of $1050! That’s a total return of 26.26% on the spend you’re doing for the sign up bonus, not including the additional points you would earn by spending that amount of money.
The highest offer we’ve seen on this card before has been 150,000 with a $100 statement credit. That offer has a total value of $1,000 points, which is slightly lower than the new targeted offer. This new offer also has a higher spend requirement at $4,000 vs $3,000 for the old all time high offer. Still, I think if you are targeted for the Surpass card, there probably isn’t a better time to grab it than now.
What do you think about this offer? Would you rather have the extra 25,000 points or an additional $100 in your pocket? Let us know down in the comment section below!
