When it comes to German Airlines, Lufthansa is a real powerhouse. It is fitting then, that they are offering a real powerhouse of an increased sign up bonus on their credit card. If you have been on the fence about the card for a while, check out this offer from Barclays!
The standard sign up bonus on the card is 50,000 points after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months. However, in the past, we have seen 60,000 point offers after $5,000 spend. Currently, it is possible to get 75,000 points in a tiered setup, which is as follows:
- 50,000 points after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months
- 25,000 points after spending $20,000 within the first 12 months.
The card has a $89 annual fee which can be waived for Senator or HON Circle members. For the annual fee, you get a card that earns 2x on Lufthansa or partner flights, and 1x back everywhere else. Additionally, there is an anniversary companion ticket that is given out every year after the annual fee is paid. Finally, cardholders will receive two Lufthansa business class lounges every year.
If you look at the surface, 75,000 points would be an all time high sign up bonus that on the card. However, in order to earn that many points, you really have to go out of your way and spend $20,000. The previous offers of 60,000 points required a much smaller $5,000 spend, which not only makes much more sense but is much more attainable. On the bright side, you do get a month to reach that high spend requirement, and a majority of the points can be earned with a much more reasonable spend requirement of $3,000.
What do you think about this offer? Is the spend requirement too high? Is it worth waiting for a 60,000 point offer with only $5,000 spend requirement? Let us know in the comments down below.
