Although this news may not be directly deal with a particular credit card, I felt that it is pretty important to share. As TransUnion is one of the three credit bureaus that determines if we get approved for credit, it’s important that we keep our credit report clean and frozen if we aren’t applying for anything in the near future.
The News
The myTransUnion App will be shutting down on September 7th. The app allowed people easy access to freezing and unfreezing their credit report.
Final Thoughts
Luckily, them closing down the app does not remove the ability to freeze or unfreeze your credit report. However, it does mean that you’ll have to go and login to TransUnion website. The unfortunate thing here is just how easy and convinient it was to freeze or unfreeze your credit using the app.
Without the myTransUnion app, the only app left with the ability to quickly freeze or unfreeze your credit report will be Equifax. I wonder if there was a reason behind the move to remove this feature, or if they just thing its more secure to go through the website to freeze/unfreeze?
