Not too long ago, U.S. Bank took over the BMW and Mini portfolio, however, we have not received any sort of update for the cards since. We were supposed to receive a refresh to the cards back in January of 2020, however, that quickly vanished. Well, finally, 7 months later, it seems like we are finally getting that long deserved update!
The News
There are 4 new cards that are being launched!
- BMW World Mastercard
- BMW Precision World Elite Mastercard
- BMW Motorrad World Mastercard
- Mini World Mastercard
The cards earn points at BMW or Mini (4x on the BMW, BMW Motorrad, and Mini card, 5x on the Precision). The Precision card has a $70 dealership credit, however also has a $99 annual fee.
Final Thoughts
While I drive a classic BMW, I’m going to try to be as unbiased as I possibly can. I think these are pretty neat cards. Not only do they look nice, but they also offer contactless too which is my person favorite capability.
For dealership cards I think they did a pretty good job. They offer both cards that require an annual fee and ones that don’t. The annual fee card has a $70 credit that looks like it could be applied to buying parts from the dealership. Trust me when I say spending $70 in a year at a dealership is pretty easy. For the extra $29, you earn 1 additional point at BMW and 0.5 extra points for all of your other purchases. Interestingly enough, the annual fee card also does not have a foreign transaction fee… incase you want to use your card at the dealer in Germany. But on a serious note, the categories outside of the dealerships are not too bad, they seem like categories you would spend when you’re using your car, like gas stations and restaurants.
What do you think about the BMW and Mini card? If you own one of those cars, would you pick up one of these credit cards? Let us know down in the comment section below!
