One of the most important things to consider when applying for American Express cards is their once in a lifetime language. This means that if you apply for a card and receive a sign up bonus, you wont be able to receive another bonus again. On the bright side, you can get the card again if you happen to cancel.
Still, this rule implies that you should only get the card you want when it has the highest possible bonus! If you were looking into getting the Gold card, then you may be in luck.
American Express is offering two different sign up bonuses on the Gold card. One is a new public offer that may show up for you (if not, it should show up as a referral), and another offer that is targeted. The offers are outlined below:
- 60,000 points when spending $4,000 within the first 6 months.
- 75,000 points when spending $4,000 within the first 6 months.
Seeing as how the standard public sign up bonus is only 35,000 points, these are both incredible offers. The highest that we’ve seen before on a referral offer before was 50,000 points when the Gold card first launched. The newer offers are actually higher than that. If we value the Membership Reward points at 2 cents per point, the 60,000 point offer would be worth $1,200, and the 75,000 point offer would be worth $1,500.
Both of those are great offers! If you are interested in the Gold card and see one of these two offers, I would highly encourage you to apply! It is especially crucial to get the highest sign up bonus that you possibly can on the American Express cards due to their once in a lifetime rule.
Are you targeted for either of these offers? Let us know if you had to do anything special to get these offers to show up in the comment section down below.
