The News
We have just gotten word that Sephora, will be working with Alliance Bank in order to create 3 separate credit cards. While there isn’t too much information about the cards themselves just yet, what we do know is there are a few different levels of the cards.
The Different Cards
There are 3 different levels of cards that will be offered.
- Store Credit Card
- Visa Card
- Visa Signature
The way it’s structured means the first card is only for use at the Sephora store. The second Visa card will allow for purchases outside of the store, just like a normal Visa credit card. Finally, the Visa Signature card just means that the card will offer additional benefits through Visa and will require meeting a certain credit limit. While there is no hard written rule as to where this credit limit is, typically for other cards, we’ve seen Visa Signature branded cards with a limit of $5,000 or higher.
At this point in time, we are not aware of the reward structure on the cards. However, we do know that the cards will somehow integrate the existing Sephora reward program.
Final Thoughts
If you are a longtime loyal to Sephora, or think you’ll spend a LOT of money there, then it may be worth applying for these sort of cards. Without knowing the complete details, it’s hard to say for sure, but these cards usually aren’t worth it. You’ll probably be better off with a 2% card for purchases like these. However if you’re at the end of your credit card journey, and don’t mind filling a 5/24 slot, then these cards could be beneficial to you.
