Southwest is one of the most interesting airlines out there. They kind of tread the needle between being a budget airline and a full size one. While they have cheaper rates for their flights, they also don’t charge certain fees like ones for luggage that other airlines force you to pay. If you are a fan of the airline, it may not be a bad time to invest in a personal credit card from them.
If you sign up for any of the personal Southwest cards, you’ll receive an offer for 65,000 points with a spend requirement of $2,000. This offer shows up on the Southwest Plus, Southwest Premier, and Southwest Priority.
Unfortunately, this is not a public offer, and is actually only obtained by getting a referral link. The offers are valid until September 21st.
The standard offer for these cards are generally 40,000 points, however, from time to time that offer gets increased to 60,000 points. With this offer, we are seeing an extra 5,000 points with the same spend requirement. Not quite as high as the all time high sign up bonus of 75,000 points, but I still think these are pretty good offers nonetheless.
There are two big things to keep in mind with these offers. The first of course is that being cards issued from Chase, they will be subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule. The second, and more important thing in my opinion is the Southwest Companion Pass. If you were remotely interested in picking that up, I would hold off on picking these cards up until it gets closer to the end of the year. If you aren’t interested, or at least not interested for at least another 2 years, then these offers could be worth picking up.
