What’s In My Wallet: September 2019

In the last month of Q3 of 2019, which credit cards am I using, and how am I using them in the best way possible? There’s only one way to find out… well, there’s probably a few ways to find out. But the easiest way would be to just read this post.

Cards In My Wallet

  1. Chase Sapphire Reserve
  2. Chase Freedom
  3. Blue Cash Preferred
  4. Discover IT
  5. World of Hyatt

  • Groceries: Blue Cash Preferred (6%)
  • Gas: Chase Freedom (5%)
  • Business Expenses: Chase Ink Business Preferred (1-3x)
  • Restaurants: Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x)
  • Travel: Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x)
  • Everything Else: Chase Sapphire Reserve (1x)

Following the lead from last month, not much has changed since then. Groceries are still under the Blue Cash Preferred, Gas is still under the Chase Freedom, Business expenses are still under the Chase Ink Business Preferred, and finally, restaurants, travel, and everything else is covered by the Chase Sapphire Reserve cards

Next Card

With every passing month I keep getting more and more excited to pick up the next card. I’ve been eyeing the IHG card for quite some time, and unfortunately, I think it may be a while before I actually get to apply for this card. Still, when I do, it will serve me pretty well. I’ll be able to get top tier status at IHG, plus the card also comes with anniversary nights that more than make up for its $89 annual fee.

Final Thoughts

The last (almost) year of hitting sign up bonuses has been a ton of fun. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end at some point. It’s a shame, but 2 months later and I’m still missing the rush of getting a sign up bonus. Really though, having my setup the way it is is still pretty satisfying, as I’m getting a ton of value from each purchase, no matter what I’m buying.
