Wyndham usually doesn’t make the top of our list when it comes to offering a hotel credit card, but maybe it should. Even better, there is a more valuable sign up bonus available to the general public.
The Sign up bonus is 45,000 points if you can spend $1,000 within the first 3 months. If we assume the value of the Wyndham points are 1.2 cents per point (TPG), then this sign up bonus would be worth $540. That would return a total 54% for the spend for the sign up bonus.
Additionally, there is an annual fee of $75, for the first year, as part of the sign up bonus, the fee is waived. This makes it very easy to give the card a try and see if it would be worth it to you.
Credit Card Summary
The Wyndham credit card comes with a $75 annual fee, which in this offer is waived for the first year. For that annual fee you are earning a reward rate of 5x on Wyndham purchases, 2x on gas, utilities, and groceries, and finally 1x for every other purchase you put on the card.
Holding the Wyndham card gives you automatic top-tier Platinum status. The Platinum status is very valuable as it gives its users access to early check in, and an Avis & Budget car rental upgrade. Additionally, the Platinum status can actually match over to Caesars Total Rewards Diamond Status which is their top tier status. Holding the Diamond Status at Caesars properties gives you access to many different features in their program.
Finally, the Wyndham credit card will award you 6,000 anniversary points every time you pay the annual fee on the card.
Even though Wyndham may have increased the hotel nightly point rate on many of its properties, at its best, the sign up bonus is worth about 3 nights for those 15,000 point hotels. The value to me, comes in getting the automatic Platinum status. Still, with this offer you are getting an annual fee free year, so it doesn’t hurt to even try the card. If you don’t like it, you could always cancel it a year later.
